We provide a 21-day evaluation for each student which includes a psychiatric evaluation, psychological testing (MMPI-A, Beck Depression Inventory, Mental Status Exam) a psychosocial history, and a complete lab workup (CMP, routine and microscopic urinalysis, pregnancy test, thyroid battery, and drug screen). Ralph W. Knapp, M.D. provides evaluations and medication management. During the 21-day evaluation, students will participate in specific groups addressing the student’s core treatment needs. Some examples of groups offered are: sexual abuse survivor, gender, sexual reactive, grief, adoption, mood disorder, thinking errors, anger management, relapse prevention, recreation, and substance abuse. Each student is assigned a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as a primary therapist and a para-professional as a treatment plan counselor to help keep the student focused on his or her core treatment issues. The medical staff monitors students with special health needs. Each week Life-Line holds a Multi-Disciplinary Team Meeting to discuss all students in the program. Staff discuss their current identified problems, their progress, family circumstances, and evaluate their response to medication, if applicable. This meeting creates a comprehensive assessment report needed to correlate treatment planning for each individual student and their family for the following week. At the end of the assessment period, Life-Line will consult with any third party case managers and discuss any further treatment needs. The primary therapist will then meet with the youth and his/her parents and review all the testing and make recommendations for the student’s future treatment needs and options.
